What a pest control receipt is for

Termite inspections for home sales, landlord-required treatments and prepaid plans all need receipts the customer can hand to someone else. A receipt with the address, the service and the date paid is what a buyer, a lender or a landlord asks for. Your license number on it answers the question before it is asked.

What to put on a pest control receipt

  • Address and date of service.
  • The service performed.
  • Amount and payment method.
  • Your license number.

A worked example

A seller paid for a termite inspection ahead of closing. The inspection report is separate; the receipt records payment.

Keep the receipt separate from the inspection report. Buyers and lenders ask for the report; the seller needs the receipt for their own records.

FAQ

Do sellers need a receipt for a termite inspection?

They need the inspection report for the buyer and lender, and the receipt for their own records of what they paid before closing.

What should a pest control receipt include?

The address, date, service, amount, payment method and your license number. Some states expect the license number on paperwork, so check yours.

Can tenants use a pest control receipt with a landlord?

Yes. If the tenant paid for treatment, the receipt shows what was done and when, which helps in any discussion about who pays.

Should prepaid plans get a receipt?

Yes, listing the visits included and the dates covered, so the customer knows what they have paid for.
