What a gutter receipt is for
Gutter cleanings are often paid on the spot, and homeowners file receipts for upkeep records and sometimes for insurance after ice dam or water damage claims. A receipt with the address, the date and the work done covers it. For installs, the receipt also starts the clock on your workmanship warranty.
What to put on a gutter receipt
- Address and date.
- Work done.
- Amount and payment method.
- Balance for deposits.
A worked example
A fall gutter cleaning paid by cash on completion.

With the amount left blank, the receipt reads paid in full. Note the leaking corner was sealed; it is useful if the customer later claims water damage.

Terms and deposit language for gutter
- Deposit. A deposit at signing reserves the install date and the gutter color. Check your state's rules on deposits.
- Payment. Due on completion, after the customer has seen the downspouts drain.
- Warranty. Say how long you cover leaks at seams and corners and hangers pulling loose, and that the coil maker covers the finish.
- Rotted fascia found when old gutters come off is repaired by change order before new gutters go up.
- Downspouts discharge where the customer agrees, away from the foundation and not onto a neighbor's property.
- Gutter guards reduce cleaning; say plainly that they do not remove the need for all maintenance.

- Fill in who paid and which job or invoice the payment is for.
- Check the lines; they show what the payment covers.
- Pick how they paid and add the check or reference number.
- Type the amount received, or leave it blank when it pays the whole total.
- Print it, download it, or hand it over as a PDF.
