What an irrigation receipt is for
Many water utilities require yearly backflow testing, and the owner needs proof it was done. A receipt with the address, the date and the test, alongside the test report, covers it. Seasonal service receipts also help homeowners show the system was winterized if freeze damage is claimed.
What to put on an irrigation receipt
- Address and date.
- Service or test performed.
- Amount and method.
- Reference to the test report if any.
A worked example
A homeowner paid for the yearly backflow test required by the water utility, plus the spring start-up.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Backflow test | 1 | each | Your price |
| Spring start-up | 1 | visit | Your price |
The test report goes to the utility separately in most areas. The receipt records that the owner paid.
