What an irrigation service agreement is for

Sprinkler systems need a start-up in spring and a blowout before the freeze, and owners forget until a pipe cracks. A yearly plan with those visits, a midseason check and backflow testing keeps the system healthy and fills your spring and fall routes. Spell out what is extra, like parts and line repairs.

What to put on an irrigation service agreement

  • Spring start-up.
  • Midseason check.
  • Fall winterization.
  • Backflow test if required.
  • Member rates on repairs.
  • Price, billing and cancellation.

Terms and deposit language for irrigation

  • Deposit. New systems take a deposit at signing for materials. Service calls take none.
  • Payment. New systems due on completion and walk-through. Service due on completion.
  • Warranty. State your workmanship warranty on new systems, and that parts carry the maker's warranty. Freeze damage on systems not winterized by you is not covered.
  • Utilities are located before digging; private lines like lighting and invisible dog fences are the owner's to mark.
  • Lawn is restored over trenches; settling may need a top-up later.
  • Watering restrictions in your area may limit schedules; the controller is set to follow them.

FAQ

What does an irrigation care plan include?

A spring start-up, a midseason check, fall winterization, backflow testing where required, and member rates on repairs. Parts are usually extra at the member rate.

Why winterize a sprinkler system?

Water left in pipes can freeze and crack them. A blowout clears the lines before the first hard freeze.

Is a midseason check worth it?

It catches broken heads and poor coverage while there is still a season left to water. Heat waves are when coverage problems show up.

Is this irrigation agreement legal advice?

No. It is a template. Look up your state's rules on service agreements. Have it reviewed if you sell it widely.
