What a waterproofing service agreement is for
A waterproofing system only works if the pump does, and pumps fail quietly until the storm. A yearly service agreement with a pump test, battery test and discharge check, plus priority storm calls, protects the customer's basement and your warranty. It is also steady work in the dry months.
What to put on a waterproofing service agreement
- Yearly visit and what it tests.
- Backup battery checks.
- Discharge line inspection.
- Priority storm service.
- What is not covered: pump replacement parts.
- Price, billing, renewal and cancellation.
A worked example
The customer from the drain tile job signs up for a yearly check before the spring rains.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yearly sump pump test and cleaning | 1 | visit | Your price |
| Backup battery load test | 1 | each | Your price |
| Discharge line inspection | 1 | each | Your price |
Pump replacement is quoted separately; put it in Not covered. Use it as a template only, not legal advice, and confirm your state's rules on service plans first.

Terms and deposit language for waterproofing
- Deposit. A deposit at signing schedules the crew and orders pumps and materials. Several states limit what a contractor can collect before starting, so confirm yours.
- Payment. Balance due when the system is installed and tested.
- Warranty. Waterproofing warranties vary widely; state exactly what is covered (leaks through treated walls, pump parts), for how long, whether it transfers to a new owner, and what voids it.
- Finished walls, flooring or stored items in the work area are moved or removed before the crew starts, or priced to remove.
- Sump discharge must go where local rules allow; it is not tied into sanitary sewer lines where that is prohibited.
- Water problems from plumbing leaks, sewer backups or flooding above grade are not covered.
How to fill it in
- Fill in the customer and the start and end dates.
- List what each visit includes and how many visits a year.
- Add your price per line; the plan shows a yearly total, and a monthly figure if billed monthly.
- Fill in what is not covered and the renewal and cancellation terms.
- Check your state's rules, then print it for signatures.
