What a tree service service agreement is for
Properties with many trees need someone watching them: deadwood before it falls, limbs over the roof, storm damage at two in the morning. A tree care agreement with a yearly inspection, a pruning cycle and priority storm response is steady work for you and peace of mind for the client.
What to put on a tree service service agreement
- Trees or areas covered.
- Yearly inspection and report.
- Pruning cycle.
- Storm response and priority.
- Exclusions like removals and stump work.
- Price, billing, renewal and cancellation.
A worked example
An HOA with mature trees along its common areas wants a yearly inspection, pruning on a cycle, and first call after storms.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yearly tree inspection and written report | 1 | visit | Your price |
| Scheduled pruning, one section per year | 1 | each | Your price |
| Priority storm response, as needed | 1 | each | Your price |
Removals are quoted separately; say so in the Not covered box. This is a template, not legal advice; check your state's rules on service contracts.

Terms and deposit language for tree service
- Deposit. Larger removals and crane jobs may take a deposit to hold the crane and crew. Small pruning usually takes none.
- Payment. Due on completion, after cleanup.
- Warranty. Not usually warrantied; say how cleanup is left and that ruts or lawn marks from equipment are raked out.
- Underground utilities are located before stump grinding.
- Some cities protect certain trees; the customer confirms or you check whether a permit is needed.
- Lawn damage from equipment is limited where possible but may occur; say how you restore it.
How to fill it in
- Fill in the customer and the start and end dates.
- List what each visit includes and how many visits a year.
- Add your price per line; the plan shows a yearly total, and a monthly figure if billed monthly.
- Fill in what is not covered and the renewal and cancellation terms.
- Check your state's rules, then print it for signatures.
