What a chimney service agreement is for
Chimney work is seasonal, and a care plan smooths it out: you book the yearly sweeps in late summer, and customers never forget before the first cold night. The agreement lists the visit, the checks and what repairs cost, and it keeps the customer's maintenance records with you.
What to put on a chimney service agreement
- Yearly visit timing.
- Sweep, inspection and checks.
- Written report each year.
- Member rates on repairs.
- Price, billing, renewal and cancellation.
A worked example
A homeowner who burns wood all winter wants an inspection and sweep every year before the season.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yearly chimney sweep | 1 | each | Your price |
| Yearly inspection with camera | 1 | each | Your price |
| Cap and crown check | 1 | each | Your price |
Book the visit for late summer in the notes. It is a template only, not legal advice, so look up your state's rules first.

Terms and deposit language for chimney
- Deposit. No deposit on sweeps and inspections. Liners and masonry rebuilds take a deposit for materials.
- Payment. Due on completion.
- Warranty. State your workmanship warranty on masonry and liner installs; liners carry the maker's warranty, which may require installation by a trained sweep.
- If an inspection finds a hazard, you will tell the customer in writing and advise not to use the fireplace until it is fixed.
- Roof access depends on weather and roof pitch.
- Animals in the chimney may be protected by law; removal follows local rules.
How to fill it in
- Fill in the customer and the start and end dates.
- List what each visit includes and how many visits a year.
- Add your price per line; the plan shows a yearly total, and a monthly figure if billed monthly.
- Fill in what is not covered and the renewal and cancellation terms.
- Check your state's rules, then print it for signatures.
