What a chimney invoice is for

The chimney invoice is also the inspection record, which home buyers and insurers sometimes ask for. Listing the sweep, the inspection level, the repairs and the condition you left the chimney in makes it useful long after it is paid. Insurers may ask for it after a chimney fire.

What to put on a chimney invoice

  • Sweep and inspection level.
  • Repairs done.
  • Condition at the end of the visit.
  • Hazard notes, if any.
  • Payment terms.

A worked example

The sweep, crown repair, cap and sealant are done. The customer added the dryer vent while the crew was there.

Put the condition at the end of the visit in the notes. A buyer's inspector a year from now will want to see it.

FAQ

What should a chimney invoice include?

The sweep and inspection level, repairs done, the condition at the end of the visit, any hazard notes, and payment terms. It doubles as the inspection record.

Do home buyers ask for chimney records?

Often. A dated invoice with the inspection findings helps a seller show the chimney was maintained. It is a small thing that can help a sale go smoothly.

How do I invoice add-ons done on site?

As separate lines with a note that the customer asked for them. A dryer vent added on the day is a common example.

Can chimney customers pay by card?

Yes, by card reader or a Koira invoice pay link. Getting paid at the door keeps your fall schedule moving.
