Locksmith invoices are short but scrutinized, because customers have heard stories. Listing the service call, each cylinder, each key and any after-hours rate, matching the written estimate, gets you paid without debate. Including your license number where required adds trust. It also gives the customer a record of what hardware is now on their doors.
What to put on a locksmith invoice
- Service call and after-hours charge.
- Each lock serviced or installed.
- Keys cut.

A worked example
The rekey is done. The homeowners asked for two extra keys while you were there.

Terms and deposit language for locksmith
- Deposit. No deposit on service calls. Master key systems and commercial hardware orders may take a deposit.
- Payment. Due on completion.

- Proof of residence or ownership is required before any lockout, safe opening or key programming.
- After-hours and emergency calls carry the rate stated before you go.
- Some states license locksmiths; your license number appears on your paperwork where required.
