What a lawn care invoice is for
Lawn care customers are rarely home when you visit, so the invoice is their proof the work happened. Listing each visit and treatment, with dates in the notes, answers the question of whether you came this week. Card-on-file customers still want an itemized invoice by email.
What to put on a lawn care invoice
- The billing period.
- Each visit or treatment, with counts.
- Dates of service in the notes.
- Any skipped visits and why.
- How it is paid.
A worked example
A monthly invoice in fall: four mows, one fertilizer round and the fall cleanup. Prices are the calculator's typical figures.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mowing, trimming and blowing * | 4 | each | $46.75 | $187.00 |
| Fertilizer applications * | 1 | each | $130.75 | $130.75 |
| Spring or fall cleanup * | 1 | each | $339.00 | $339.00 |
| Total before tax | $656.75 |
Write the service dates in the notes. If a week was skipped for rain, say so; it saves the email asking why there were three mows instead of four.
