What a holiday lighting service agreement is for

The best holiday lighting customers come back every year with the same display. An agreement that holds their install window, keeps their lights in storage, sets service call terms and renews each fall turns a seasonal sale into a route you can count on, and books your November before September ends.

What to put on a holiday lighting service agreement

  • Display covered each season.
  • Install and takedown windows.
  • Storage of leased lights.
  • Service calls during the season.
  • Renewal and early-booking terms.
  • Price, billing and cancellation.

A worked example

An owner wants the same display every year with install before Thanksgiving.

Terms and deposit language for holiday lighting

  • Deposit. A deposit at booking holds the install date in a short season and covers lights ordered for this house. Follow your state's deposit rules.
  • Payment. Balance due on install day after the owner sees the lights on.
  • Warranty. Lights that fail during the season are fixed on a service call within the days stated. Damage from storms, animals or people unplugging the timer is not a lighting defect.
  • Lights stay the property of the installer when leased, and are stored for next season.
  • Lights plug into existing outdoor outlets; new outlets need an electrician.
  • Install and takedown dates depend on weather; roofs are not walked when wet or icy.

How to fill it in

  1. Fill in the customer and the start and end dates.
  2. List what each visit includes and how many visits a year.
  3. Add your price per line; the plan shows a yearly total, and a monthly figure if billed monthly.
  4. Fill in what is not covered and the renewal and cancellation terms.
  5. Check your state's rules, then print it for signatures.

FAQ

What does a yearly holiday lighting agreement include?

The same display each season, install and takedown windows, storage of leased lights, service calls, and renewal and early-booking terms.

Why sign customers to a yearly agreement?

It books your busiest weeks before the rush starts, and it keeps each customer's lights and display ready in storage for the next season.

Can the display change year to year?

Yes. Write the base display into the agreement and quote any additions or changes on a fresh estimate each fall before the install.

Is this holiday lighting agreement legal advice?

No. It is a template for a seasonal agreement. Have it reviewed and check your state's rules before you use it.
