What a holiday lighting receipt is for

Holiday lighting is booked months ahead, and owners want proof their date is held. A receipt with the install date, what is included and the balance does that. The season receipt is also the record you both look at next fall, when you offer to hang the same lights again.

What to put on a holiday lighting receipt

  • What was paid, the date and the payment method.
  • Install date held.
  • What the season includes.
  • Balance due on install day.

A worked example

The owner paid the deposit in October to hold a mid-November install. Enter it in Amount received.

LineQtyUnitPriceAmount
Roofline lights, lights supplied *150ft$3.75$562.50
Takedown after the season *150ft$0.57$85.50
Total before tax$648.00

Write the install date in the notes. It is why they paid the deposit.

Terms and deposit language for holiday lighting

  • Deposit. A deposit at booking holds the install date in a short season and covers lights ordered for this house. Follow your state's deposit rules.
  • Payment. Balance due on install day after the owner sees the lights on.
  • Warranty. Lights that fail during the season are fixed on a service call within the days stated. Damage from storms, animals or people unplugging the timer is not a lighting defect.
  • Lights stay the property of the installer when leased, and are stored for next season.
  • Lights plug into existing outdoor outlets; new outlets need an electrician.
  • Install and takedown dates depend on weather; roofs are not walked when wet or icy.

How to fill it in

  1. Fill in who paid and which job or invoice the payment is for.
  2. Check the lines; they show what the payment covers.
  3. Pick how they paid and add the check or reference number.
  4. Type the amount received, or leave it blank when it pays the whole total.
  5. Print it, download it, or hand it over as a PDF.

FAQ

Why give a receipt for a holiday lighting deposit?

Because the deposit holds an install date weeks or months away, and the receipt is the owner's proof that their spot is booked.

What goes on a holiday lighting receipt?

The address, the date, the install date held, what the season includes, the amount and method of payment, and the balance.

Can last year's receipt help next year?

Yes. It shows what was hung and what it cost, which makes rebooking the same display a quick conversation.

How do holiday lighting receipts get sent?

Record the booking deposit in Koira and the holiday lighting receipt goes out to the owner by text or email right away, with the install date on it.

We know what works. Leave it to Koira.
