What a flooring receipt is for
Flooring warranties often require proof of purchase and installation date, and homeowners keep flooring receipts for resale. A receipt with the product line, the area and the date covers both. For deposits, it records that the material is ordered. It is also the record of when the floor went in if a moisture issue shows up later.
What to put on a flooring receipt
- Amount, date and payment method.
- Product line and area.
- Deposit or final payment.
- Balance remaining.
A worked example
The homeowner paid the deposit by card to order the plank flooring. Enter it in Amount received.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Luxury vinyl plank, installed | 790 | sq ft | Your price |
| Remove old flooring and underlayment | 750 | sq ft | Your price |
Name the product line in the plank line before sending. The flooring maker's warranty asks for it.
