What a home inspection receipt is for
Buyers collect every receipt in the months before closing, and some employers and relocation programs reimburse inspection fees. A receipt with the client, the property address, the inspection date and what was included is the document they need, without a call to your office asking you to resend it.
What to put on a home inspection receipt
- Fee paid, payment day and method.
- Property address and inspection date.
- Inspection and add-ons covered.
- Who the client is.

The buyer paid the fee by card at booking. Enter it in Amount received.

Put the client's name and the property address on the receipt. Relocation programs ask for both.

Terms and deposit language for home inspection
- Deposit. The inspection fee is paid in full when the inspection is booked, to hold the date on the buyer's contract timeline.
- Payment. Paid at booking. The report is delivered after the inspection.
- Warranty. An inspection reports what was visible and accessible on the day. It is not a warranty of the home and does not cover hidden or future defects.
- The inspection follows your state's standards of practice where the state sets them.
- Utilities must be on and areas accessible; inaccessible areas are noted in the report.
- Add-on tests may be done by licensed partners where your state requires it.
How to fill it in
- Fill in who paid and which job or invoice the payment is for.
- Check the lines; they show what the payment covers.
- Pick how they paid and add the check or reference number.
- Type the amount received, or leave it blank when it pays the whole total.
- Print it, download it, or hand it over as a PDF.
