What a window and door receipt is for

Between the deposit and install day there can be weeks of waiting on the factory. A receipt that names the units ordered, the deposit paid and the expected install window answers the call before it comes. The final receipt goes in the house file, and buyers ask how old the windows are.

What to put on a window and door receipt

  • Payment amount, the day it arrived and the method.
  • Units ordered or installed.
  • Whether it is the deposit or the final.
  • Balance due on install day.

A worked example

The owner paid the deposit to order ten windows and a door. Enter it in Amount received.

Terms and deposit language for window and door

  • Deposit. A deposit at signing pays for the units, which are made to the measured size and cannot be returned. Check your state's limits on home improvement deposits.
  • Payment. Balance due on install day once every opening is finished and the owner has opened and locked each unit.
  • Warranty. The manufacturer warrants the units. You warrant the install: leaks at the opening and operation problems caused by how it was set. Say for how long.
  • Lead times run from the order date, not the signing date, and are set by the manufacturer.
  • Rot found when an old unit comes out is repaired at the per foot price on this estimate, with photos.
  • Blinds, curtains and alarm sensors on old units are the owner's to remove and reinstall unless listed.

How to fill it in

  1. Fill in who paid and which job or invoice the payment is for.
  2. Check the lines; they show what the payment covers.
  3. Pick how they paid and add the check or reference number.
  4. Type the amount received, or leave it blank when it pays the whole total.
  5. Print it, download it, or hand it over as a PDF.

FAQ

Why give a receipt for a window deposit?

The order is custom and the wait is long. A receipt naming the units and the order date reassures the owner that the order is real.

What should a window receipt include?

The address, the date, the units ordered or installed, the amount and method of payment and the balance due.

Do buyers ask about window age?

Often. A dated receipt naming the units answers it at sale time and supports the transferable warranty if there is one.

Can Koira send window receipts?

Yes. When you record a deposit or the final payment, Koira can text or email the receipt to the owner right away.
