What a garage door receipt is for
Garage door makers and opener brands often require proof of purchase and install date for warranty claims. A receipt with the model, the date and the address covers it. For custom doors, the deposit receipt also records the size, color and style ordered. It protects you if the customer later says a different color was ordered.
What to put on a garage door receipt
- Amount, date and method.
- Parts or door with model and size.
- Deposit or final payment.
- Balance due.
A worked example
A customer ordered a new insulated double door and paid the deposit by card. Enter it in Amount received.

Write the size, color and window style in the door line. A deposit receipt that records the order prevents the wrong-door conversation.

Terms and deposit language for garage door
- Deposit. No deposit on repairs. New doors take a deposit at order since they are built to size and color.
- Payment. Repairs due on completion. New doors balance due at install.
- Warranty. Springs and openers carry the maker's warranty; state your own labor warranty and that it covers your parts only.
- Spring work is dangerous and done only by trained techs; the customer should not adjust springs.
- Other worn parts found during a repair are pointed out and quoted, not replaced without approval.
- Custom door orders cannot be cancelled once placed.

- Fill in who paid and which job or invoice the payment is for.
- Check the lines; they show what the payment covers.
- Pick how they paid and add the check or reference number.
- Type the amount received, or leave it blank when it pays the whole total.
- Print it, download it, or hand it over as a PDF.
