What a tile receipt is for

Tile orders can take weeks, especially special-order porcelain and stone. A receipt that names the tile, the room and the planned start keeps the owner settled while they wait. The final receipt records the tile and grout used, which helps when a cracked piece needs matching years later.

What to put on a tile receipt

  • The sum received, the date and the payment method.
  • Room and tile chosen.
  • Deposit, stage or final payment.
  • Remaining balance.

A worked example

The owner paid the materials deposit by card. Enter it in Amount received.

Write the tile name, size and lot number in the notes when you have them. It helps with repairs later.

Terms and deposit language for tile

  • Deposit. A deposit at signing pays for tile and setting materials ordered for this bathroom or floor. Confirm your state's rules on home improvement deposits.
  • Payment. Balance due after grout has cured and the job is walked with the owner.
  • Warranty. Stand behind cracked tile and loose tile caused by the install, and leaks through a pan you built. Cracks from the house moving or a subfloor you were not asked to fix are left out.
  • Tile from the same lot can vary in shade; we mix boxes so the variation spreads out.
  • Showers need cure time before use; the day the owner can shower is in the notes.
  • Damage found under the old tile, like rotten subfloor, is priced on a change order with photos.

How to fill it in

  1. Fill in who paid and which job or invoice the payment is for.
  2. Check the lines; they show what the payment covers.
  3. Pick how they paid and add the check or reference number.
  4. Type the amount received, or leave it blank when it pays the whole total.
  5. Print it, download it, or hand it over as a PDF.

FAQ

Should tile installers give deposit receipts?

Yes. Tile can be on order for weeks, and a receipt naming the tile and planned start keeps the owner from wondering what happened to their money.

What should a tile receipt say?

The address, date, room, tile chosen, amount and method of payment, and whatever balance is still owed for the job.

Why record the tile lot on a receipt?

Shades vary between lots. If a tile cracks years later, the lot number is the best chance of finding a close match.

Can I text a tile receipt from the driveway?

Yes. Save it as a PDF and text it to the owner, or let Koira send it when the deposit or payment is recorded.
