What a window and door proposal is for
Window buyers hear about frames, glass packages and energy ratings from every salesperson. Three options on the same openings, with frame material and glass spelled out, let the owner compare what changes between the price levels. It also gives pay over time a clear place on the bigger option.
What to put on a window and door proposal
- The same openings in each option.
- Frame material and glass package.
- Install type and trim.
- Warranty differences.
- One acceptance line.
A worked example
The same ten double-hung openings. Lines are yours to price from your supplier.
Option 1: Good: builder-grade vinyl. Double pane, standard frame, insert install.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Builder-grade vinyl window, insert | 10 | each | Your price |
| Exterior capping, aluminum | 10 | each | Your price |
Option 2: Better: mid-grade vinyl, low-E. Heavier frame, low-E glass with gas fill.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mid-grade vinyl window, low-E, insert | 10 | each | Your price |
| Exterior capping, aluminum | 10 | each | Your price |
| Interior trim and stool | 10 | each | Your price |
Option 3: Best: fiberglass frames. Fiberglass frames, triple pane on the north side.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fiberglass window, full frame | 10 | each | Your price |
| Interior trim and stool | 10 | each | Your price |
| Disposal of old units | 10 | each | Your price |
Write one plain sentence per option about what the owner gets for the step up.

Terms and deposit language for window and door
- Deposit. A deposit at signing pays for the units, which are made to the measured size and cannot be returned. Check your state's limits on home improvement deposits.
- Payment. Balance due on install day once every opening is finished and the owner has opened and locked each unit.
- Warranty. The manufacturer warrants the units. You warrant the install: leaks at the opening and operation problems caused by how it was set. Say for how long.
- Lead times run from the order date, not the signing date, and are set by the manufacturer.
- Rot found when an old unit comes out is repaired at the per foot price on this estimate, with photos.
- Blinds, curtains and alarm sensors on old units are the owner's to remove and reinstall unless listed.
How to fill it in
- Fill in the customer and the job.
- Check each option's name, its one-line difference and its lines.
- Add your prices; each option totals on its own.
- Set tax, the deposit and the good-until date.
- Print it, download it, or send it from Koira so the customer can pick and sign on the phone.
