What a duct cleaning change order is for

Surprises in duct cleaning come out of the ducts: a nest, a crushed flex run, a second air handler in the attic. Showing the owner a photo and getting a signature on the extra work before you do it keeps trust in a trade where trust is everything.

What to put on a duct cleaning change order

  • What was found, with a photo.
  • Added work and its price.
  • Credits for skipped items.
  • The new total.
  • Owner's OK before the work.

A worked example

The tech finds a second air handler in the attic and a crushed dryer duct behind the machine. The owner skips the filter.

Terms and deposit language for duct cleaning

  • Deposit. No deposit on standard cleanings. Reroutes and larger systems take a deposit when booked, within your state's rules.

  • Photos before and after are part of every cleaning.
  • Mold claims are shown to the owner, not just described.
  • Gas dryers are reconnected and checked for leaks before you leave.

  5. Print it for a signature on site, or send it from Koira to sign by phone.

FAQ

When does duct cleaning need a change order?

When the tech finds a second system, a nest, crushed or disconnected ducts, or the owner adds a reroute or skips an item.

Why show photos before pricing extras?

Because extra charges are what owners fear from duct cleaners. A photo first, then a price, keeps their trust.

Should crushed flex duct be replaced?

Behind a dryer, yes, with rigid or semi-rigid metal duct. Crushed flex traps lint, slows drying and is exactly what the cleaning is meant to fix.

How do I credit an item the owner skips?

Enter it as a credit with a minus quantity, and the total on the change order goes down.
