What a snow removal change order is for

Winters change plans: the customer adds the back patio, a big storm leaves nowhere to pile snow, or they switch to seasonal after an expensive January. A written change with the new price keeps billing straight through a season where you have little time for paperwork.

What to put on a snow removal change order

  • The current plan and price.
  • What is added or changed.
  • Added lines and credits.
  • The new price and when it starts.
  • Customer approval.

A worked example

After a big storm there is nowhere left to pile snow, so it needs hauling. The customer adds the back patio path and drops salting on the drive.

Hauling is a one-time charge; the patio path runs the rest of the season. Say both in the notes so the next bill makes sense.

Terms and deposit language for snow removal

  • Deposit. Seasonal contracts are often paid up front or in monthly installments; per-push customers may keep a card on file.
  • Payment. Seasonal: up front or monthly. Per push: billed after each storm or monthly.
  • Warranty. Not a warranty trade. Say how you handle turf, edge or mailbox damage from plows, and how to report it.
  • Service starts at the trigger depth stated; drifting and blowing snow may need extra visits.
  • Plowing order depends on the route; say the target time after snowfall ends.
  • Ice can form after service; ice melt reduces but does not remove slip risk.

How to fill it in

  1. Put in the original estimate number and amount.
  2. Write what changed in the reason box, plainly.
  3. Add the new work; type a minus quantity for any credit.
  4. Fill in the days added.
  5. Print it for a signature on site, or send it from Koira to sign by phone.

FAQ

When does snow service need a change order?

When areas are added, hauling is needed, the plan changes, or services are dropped mid-season. Write it down even when you are exhausted; the bill comes later.

How do I price snow hauling?

By the load or the hour with the truck and loader, since it takes equipment beyond a plow.

Can a customer switch to seasonal mid-winter?

If you allow it, write the new price for the rest of the season on a change order.

Can I credit dropped services?

Yes. A minus quantity takes the dropped service off the change total. The customer sees the new work and the dropped service on one page.
