What a water treatment change order is for

Installs change when the tech finds corroded pipe at the main, a drain much farther than expected, or a second test that shows iron. A signed change order before the extra work keeps the owner informed and keeps the install, and your warranty, on solid ground.

What to put on a water treatment change order

  • What was found or retested.
  • Added parts or equipment.
  • Credits.
  • New total.
  • Signature before the work.

A worked example

The main line is corroded at the install point, the drain run is 20 feet longer, and the owner drops the RO unit for now.

Photograph the corroded pipe before you cut it. Owners accept a repair faster when they have seen it.

FAQ

When does a water treatment install need a change order?

When the tech finds pipe damage, the drain run is longer, a retest changes the system, or the owner adds or drops equipment.

Should I repair corroded pipe at the install?

Yes, before connecting new equipment to it, and only after the owner signs a change order with photos of the pipe.

What if a retest shows iron?

Write the new result on the change order with the filter or system it calls for, and get the owner's signature first.

How is dropped equipment credited?

Enter the RO unit or filter as a credit with a minus quantity, and the change order total drops accordingly.
