What a glass work order is for
Glass installs go wrong in two ways: the piece does not fit, or it breaks on the way in. A work order with every measured size, glass type, hardware and finish, plus where to stage and how to carry, lets the installer check the delivery against the order and plan the carry before lifting anything.
What to put on a glass work order
- Openings with measured sizes.
- Glass type and thickness.
- Hardware and finish.
- Safety glass check.
- Carry path and staging.
A worked example
Install day for the pane and the shower door, with no prices shown to the installer.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Remove fogged unit, living room, 30 x 36 | 1 | each | Your price |
| Set new insulated unit, tape and blocks | 1 | each | Your price |
| Hang frameless shower door, 3/8 glass | 1 | each | Your price |
| Silicone and clean | 1 | each | Your price |
Check the delivered sizes against the work order before removing the old glass. A wrong size found later leaves an opening open.
