What a handyman work order is for

A good handyman day runs in order: buy materials first, do the messy jobs early, finish with the quick ones. The work order puts the list in that order with the tools for each, so nothing is forgotten at the store. For a helper or a second tech, it carries the house details you would otherwise explain on the phone.

What to put on a handyman work order

  • Tasks in the order you will do them.
  • Materials to buy and tools to bring.
  • Parking, pets and who is home.
  • Anything to check before starting.
  • Customer sign-off.

Putting the drywall first and last gives the mud time to dry between coats in the same visit. Note the grab bar blocking question in site notes.

FAQ

What should a handyman work order include?

Tasks in order, materials and tools, house details, anything to check first, and a sign-off. It is the plan for the day as much as a record of it.

Why put tasks in order?

Some tasks need drying time or a store run. Ordering them makes the day shorter and avoids a second trip.

Should a handyman get a sign-off?

A quick signature after a walk-through confirms the list is done and avoids callbacks about items the customer forgot to ask for.

Can I send the work order to a helper?

Yes. Save it as a PDF and text it, or keep it on the job in Koira. Add the house rules so the helper does not have to call you from the porch.

We know what works. Leave it to Koira.
