What a masonry work order is for

Masonry mistakes are slow to undo. A work order that spells out the mortar type and color sample, how deep to grind, which bricks get replaced, where the pallets go and how to protect the plants lets the crew start without a phone call and finish the way the owner was promised.

What to put on a masonry work order

  • Wall or patio location and area.
  • Mortar type, color sample and joint profile.
  • Bricks to replace, marked on a photo.
  • Dust control and cleanup.
  • Where to stage material and park.
  • Plants, windows and cars to protect.

Mark the bricks to replace on a photo in site notes. It stops the crew guessing which ones the owner meant.

FAQ

What goes on a masonry work order?

The area, mortar type and color sample, joint profile, bricks to replace, dust control, staging and what to protect on site.

Why mark bricks on a photo?

Because two people looking at one wall will not pick the same bricks. A marked photo ends the debate.

Should dust control be on the work order?

Yes. Grinding mortar throws silica dust, and the controls you use belong on the job plan your crew reads.

Do crews need prices?

No. Hide prices on the crew copy so the sheet is about joints, bricks and protection, and the crew is not reading the owner's numbers.
