What a siding work order is for
Siding jobs run wall by wall over several days. A work order that sets the wall order, flashing details at each opening, trim style, where staging goes and which plants matter keeps the crew from rework and keeps the owner from watching a prized shrub get trampled.
What to put on a siding work order
- Wall order and starting point.
- Profile, color and exposure.
- Flashing at windows and doors.
- Trim style at openings and corners.
- Staging and dumpster location.
- Plants, fixtures and dishes to protect or reset.
A worked example
Day one, north and east walls. The crew copy hides prices.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tear off north and east walls | 12 | square | Your price |
| Wrap and tape seams, flash openings | 1,200 | sq ft | Your price |
| Side north and east walls | 12 | square | Your price |
| Trim openings, J-channel | 8 | each | Your price |
Photograph the wrap and window flashing before siding covers it. It is the proof of a careful install if a leak shows up.
