What a window cleaning estimate is for
Window cleaning prices confuse customers because everyone counts differently: per window, per pane, per side. An estimate that states how windows are counted, lists screens and tracks separately and flags upper floors makes the price easy to check. It also says up front that hard water stains are a different job.
What to put on a window cleaning estimate
- How windows are counted: per window, per pane or per side.
- Window count by floor.
- Inside, outside or both.
- Screens and tracks as add-ons.
- Upper story or skylight surcharges.
- Hard water or construction residue noted separately.
A worked example
A two-story house with 20 windows, screens on all of them, and some hard water spotting on the ground floor where the sprinklers hit. Window and screen lines use the calculator's typical prices.
| Line | Qty | Unit | Price | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Window cleaning, inside and outside * | 20 | each | $12.00 | $240.00 |
| Screen cleaning * | 20 | each | $3.12 | $62.40 |
| Track and sill cleaning | 20 | each | Your price | |
| Hard water stain removal, ground floor | 4 | each | Your price |
Write how you count windows in the notes. Customers with French doors or divided panes need to know before the visit whether each pane counts.
