Key takeaways
  • Move per-visit customers to a monthly plan; even billing in winter keeps the cash flow even too.
  • The core of landscaping invoicing is on Koira's Grow plan, $249 a month plus usage, with no per-person fee.
  • Card rates for Jobber, GorillaDesk and Kickserv are from each company's own pages, next to Koira's.

How a landscaping company gets paid

Landscaping billing is recurring for maintenance and staged for projects. Maintenance customers pay monthly or per visit; projects need a deposit for materials and a final when it is planted.

The more of the maintenance on a card on file, the less of the owner's time goes to collections.

What goes on a landscaping invoice

  • Monthly maintenance on the card on file
  • Per-visit mowing
  • Cleanup charges by visit
  • Material deposit on projects
  • Project final at completion
  • Mulch and plant pass-through
  • Seasonal plan billed yearly
  • Pay over time on a hardscape project
A tip from the tradeMove per-visit customers to a monthly plan; even billing in winter keeps the cash flow even too.

What invoicing software should do for landscapers

  • The invoice built from the signed estimate
  • Paid at the door by card or phone wallet
  • Deposits and staged invoices
  • The card rate published, on both sides
  • Recurring service plans, which matters for landscapers

How Koira does it

In Koira, a landscaping invoice is built from the signed estimate and your price list, monthly maintenance on the card on file and all, and goes out when you tap done. It opens as a QR code at the door, so the customer pays by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or pay over time through Affirm or Klarna. Deposits are paid at signing and bigger jobs bill in stages. That is on Office, the free plan.

On Grow, invoices, payments and deposits post to QuickBooks Online as they happen.

What Koira does not doKoira does not do payroll, inventory or a dispatch board for a call center. If you need those, a larger system may suit you better.

The $29 a month per added user is in the note behind each plan's user count. GorillaDesk prices by route with a slider that fills in by script, so we read each route count in a real browser. A cell names the lowest plan that lists the feature; "Not listed" means we did not see it, so ask. Prices change often, so check the page before you buy.
