Key takeaways
  • For a drywall contractor, the features that decide the software are instant price on your site, invoices in stages, automatic estimate follow-ups.
  • Koira covers that list on Grow ($249 a month plus usage), with no per-person fee.
  • Prices and card rates for Jobber, Contractor Foreman and JobTread are from each company's own pages.
  • Count the people who will use it before you compare prices.

What a drywall contractor needs from software

Drywall work splits into two businesses. The small repairs, a hole behind a door or a water stain on a ceiling, are quick, frequent and priced from a list. The bigger hang and finish jobs run for days and are billed in stages.

Software for a drywall contractor has to serve both: a fast price for the repair calls so you do not drive out for every quote, and staged invoices for the basement that keep the crew paid while the mud dries.

  • Instant price on your site. Patch and repair calls want a number before anyone drives out, and most are small enough to price from a list.
  • Invoices in stages. Hang, tape and finish runs across several days, and billing at each stage keeps cash moving.
  • Automatic estimate follow-ups. Remodel bids sit with the general contractor or homeowner, and a polite nudge keeps yours on top.
  • Options on one estimate. Finish levels and texture choices change the price, and showing them side by side avoids the argument later.
  • Deposits at signing. Board and mud for a whole basement should not come out of your pocket.
  • Paid on the spot. Small repairs are paid best on the spot, before you pack the tools.

A plain checklist for drywall software

  • An instant price for common repairs
  • Finish levels as options on one estimate
  • Deposit at signing on big jobs
  • Staged invoices for hang, tape and finish
  • Follow-ups on remodel bids
  • Paid on the spot for small repairs
  • Before and after photos on your site
  • Review asks after each paid job

How Koira covers the list

Instant price on your site. A Get a price button on your site answers from your own price list, day or night. Anything not on the list comes to you as one question.

Invoices in stages. Deposit, midpoint and final invoices go out as you mark each stage done.

Automatic estimate follow-ups. On Grow, Koira nudges every open estimate on day two and day four, then stops.

Options on one estimate. Up to three options on one estimate, signed and paid on one page.

Deposits at signing. Your deposit rule is added to every estimate and paid at signing.

Paid on the spot. The invoice opens as a QR code at the door, paid by card or phone wallet.

What Koira does not doKoira does not do payroll, inventory or a dispatch board for a call center. If you need those, a larger system may suit you better.

What to compare

The features that matter most to a drywall contractor, and where each first appears on each company's public pricing page, then the people, usage, card and add-on rows every company gets. It is not a full feature list for anyone, including us.

Card rates as each company publishes them (also JobTread online payments), checked October 9, 2026. Koira's is Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ for a US card plus Koira's share, which pays for Office in place of a monthly fee.

How to choose

Count last month's repair calls and how many you drove out to price. If the number is high, instant prices come first. If the big jobs strain cash, staged invoices come first. Koira does both on Office; it does not do takeoffs from plans.

Whichever you try, put one real week of jobs through it before you commit. Koira has a free plan, and the others offer free trials or demos, so ask.
