Housecall Pro vs ServiceTitan at a glance

Housecall Pro and ServiceTitan are both used by HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies, but they are sold very differently. Housecall Pro lists three plans with prices and a 14 day trial. ServiceTitan lists three packages with no prices and asks you to book a demo.

That difference says a lot about who each is for. Housecall Pro is built to be set up by the owner. ServiceTitan is built around a dispatcher and an office, and its demo form asks how many technicians you have and whether you have at least one full-time office employee.

Where Housecall Pro is the stronger pick

You want to know the price before you talk to anyone. Housecall Pro's Basic plan is $79 a month, or $59 billed yearly, for one user. Essentials is $189 for five users and Max is $329 for eight. You can work out the bill yourself from Housecall Pro's pricing page.

You are one to eight people. Housecall Pro includes users by plan, so a five person shop fits inside Essentials without a per-seat count. The free trial runs on Max with no credit card, so you can try the top plan first.

You sell bigger tickets to homeowners. Consumer financing and review management are on Basic, and the sales proposal tool and recurring service plans come in on Max.

Where ServiceTitan is the stronger pick

You run a dispatch office. Every ServiceTitan package lists dispatching, call booking, a pricebook, payroll management, commission tracking and customizable memberships. That is the toolkit of a shop where calls come into an office and technicians are sent out.

You expect to add a lot of people and products. ServiceTitan sells add-ons for bigger offices, such as Contact Center Pro, Dispatch Pro, Fleet Pro and Marketing Pro, and it serves residential and commercial work. Many large HVAC and plumbing companies run on it.

Payroll and commissions matter now. Payroll management and commission tracking are on every ServiceTitan package. On Housecall Pro, commissions come in on Essentials and payroll is sold as a separate product.

What a 1 to 3 person shop would pay

Housecall Pro's cost for a small team comes straight off its plan cards. ServiceTitan does not publish a price for any package, so the honest answer for a one to three person shop is that you will only know after a demo.

Where Koira fits

Koira is for the one to three person shop that does not have an office at all. It answers the phone and texts back missed calls on Grow ($249 a month plus usage at cost), sends estimates with up to three options and a deposit on every plan, and has no per-person fee.

If you are choosing between these two because you are about to hire a dispatcher, Koira is probably not the right fit: it does not do payroll, inventory or a call center dispatch board. If you are choosing because the phone keeps ringing while you are on a job, it may be. See Koira vs ServiceTitan and Koira vs Housecall Pro.

How to choose

Count the people who would log in, and ask whether one of them sits at a desk all day. If nobody does, start with the tool whose price you can read today. If a dispatcher already runs your board, book the ServiceTitan demo and ask for the per-technician price in writing.

Either way, put one real week of calls and jobs through it before you sign anything longer than a month.
