What this checklist covers
This list follows the plumbing section of the InterNACHI Standards of Practice, which says the inspector shall inspect the main water and fuel shut-off valves, the water heating equipment (energy source, venting, TPR valves and seismic bracing), interior water supply by running the water at fixtures and faucets, all toilets by flushing, all sinks, tubs and showers for drainage, the drain, waste and vent system, and sump pumps with accessible floats.
The standards say to report deficiencies in water supply seen by running two fixtures at the same time, problems in how hot and cold faucets are installed, active leaks, and toilets that are damaged, loose, leaking or not working. For a report with OK and needs-attention marks, use the plumbing inspection report.
