- A prehung interior door usually costs $365 to $679 installed on Fixr's table.
- Bifolds are the cheapest; pocket and French doors cost the most because of the framing.
- HomeAdvisor puts labor at $100 to $300 a door and haul-away of the old door at $40 to $200.
- Doing a whole house at once spreads the trip and setup over many doors.

| French doors | $1,076 to $1,999 | $1,538 |
Fixr gives ranges without averages, so the calculator uses each midpoint as typical. HomeAdvisor's range for an interior door is $375 to $1,125, which matches the middle of Fixr's table.
Hollow core or solid core
HomeAdvisor puts a hollow-core slab at $50 to $200 and a solid-core slab at $100 to $500, with labor of $100 to $300 for either. Solid doors block more sound, which matters for bedrooms, bathrooms and home offices. Hardware is separate: HomeAdvisor lists knobs and locks at $10 to $300 and hinges at $2.50 to $30 each.
Why pocket doors cost more
A pocket door slides into the wall, so the wall is opened, reframed for the pocket and patched. Wires or pipes in that wall have to move. That is why Fixr's pocket range starts above $1,000 while a swing door in an existing opening starts under $400.
A worked example
Ten prehung doors for a whole house, at the US average: $3,650 to $6,790, about $5,220 typical, or $522 a door. Six bifold closet doors with the old ones hauled away come to about $1,761 typical. Enter a ZIP to scale the 45% labor share to your state.
Quoting interior doors
- Price per door, with a minimum. One door on a service call costs more per door than ten.
- Count the casing. New prehung doors usually need new casing on both sides.
- Paint is a separate line. Primed doors still need finishing.
