What a job sheet is for
A job sheet is the tech's record of one visit. It is where the parts used, the time on site and what was found get written down before they are forgotten, and it is what the office turns into the invoice. A sheet signed by the customer also settles what was done.
What to write on it
- The customer, address and phone, and the tech.
- Arrival and leaving times.
- Each task and part, with quantities.
- What was found, what was done, and anything recommended for later.
- Signatures from the tech and the customer.
Job sheet or work order
A work order is written before the visit to say what to do. A job sheet is filled in during and after to say what was done. Many shops use the work order to send the tech and the job sheet to bill the job.
