Why pool service plans work
Pool service already runs as a route, so the plan is mostly about what is included, how chemicals are billed and whether the opening and closing come with it.
A weekly pool customer is already recurring. The plan turns that into a written agreement: what each visit includes, how chemicals are priced, and when you open and close the pool. Clear terms are what stop the arguments about green water after a storm.
Three tiers to offer
Three tiers give the customer a choice that is not yes or no.
| Tier | What it includes | Example price | Billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly check | One visit a month: test, balance and a quick clean; Chemicals billed as used; Visit report sent after each stop | $360 to $1,080 a year | $30 to $90 a month |
| Weekly service | Weekly skim, brush, vacuum, test and balance; Basic chemicals included up to a limit; Filter cleans on a schedule | $1,040 to $2,600 a year | $87 to $217 a month |
| Weekly plus season | Everything in weekly service; Pool opening in spring; Pool closing in fall; Priority for green pool recovery | $450 to $650 on top of the weekly visits | Weekly rate during the season |
From Fixr's published pool service prices: monthly visits $30 to $90 a month, weekly visits $20 to $50 a week ($1,040 to $2,600 a year on contract), openings $250 to $350 and closings $200 to $300. Fixr does not give one typical weekly price, so the rows show ranges.
What to put in the plan terms
Write the terms down before the first customer signs, and use the same words on your site, the estimate and the invoice:
- Which chemicals are included and the limit
- What counts as a recovery job outside the plan
- Storm and heavy-use clauses
- Access, gates and pets
- Billing, renewal and the season dates
For the visit itself, use our printable pool service checklist so every visit covers the same items.
A sales script that does not sound like one
The best moment to offer a plan is right after a good visit, while the customer is looking at the work. Here is how it can go:
- You: Your pool is balanced and the filter is clean. Do you want us to take it from here every week?
- Customer: What would that look like?
- You: We come the same day each week, send you a report with the readings, and include the basic chemicals. The season plan adds the opening and closing so you never have to call.
- Customer: How is it billed?
- You: Monthly on your card, and it renews each season. I can set it up right now.
Say the price as a monthly amount, and offer to add it to today's invoice. Then stop talking.
Price your own plan
The examples above are national numbers. Your plan price should come from your own labor, drive time, parts and overhead. The calculator above does that math for any trade: visits, hours, parts, the member discount and your margin.
Launch this plan in Koira
Maintenance plans are part of Koira's Front Office plan, $499 a month flat. Koira offers the plan on your site, on the estimate and on the invoice, bills the card on file monthly or yearly, and books each visit when it comes due, so plan visits land on your day with everything else. See how maintenance plans work in Koira, or start on Front Office.
On the free Office plan you can still sell the visits one at a time with estimates and invoices.
