Why gutter plans work
A gutter plan books the fall cleaning before the leaves drop, adds a spring visit for homes under trees, and turns a once-a-year call into a customer for good.
Gutter cleaning is the easiest service to forget until water is pouring over the edge. A plan puts it on the calendar every year at the right time, and the visit is where you sell guards, repairs and downspout extensions.
Three tiers to offer
Three tiers give the customer a choice that is not yes or no.
| Tier | What it includes | Example price | Billed monthly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fall | One cleaning after the leaves drop; Downspouts checked and flushed | $165 to $275, typical $220 a year | About $18 a month, typical |
| Spring and fall | Two cleanings a year; Downspouts flushed; Photos before and after | $330 to $550, typical $440 a year | About $37 a month, typical |
| Spring and fall plus | Two cleanings a year; Downspouts flushed; Minor repairs and resealing included; Priority booking after storms | $430 to $800, typical $615 a year | About $51 a month, typical |
From the gutter cleaning cost calculator's sourced bands for an example one-story, 2,000 sq ft home with about 200 ft of gutter: $1 to $1, typical $1 a foot, which comes to $165 to $275, typical $220 a cleaning, and minor repairs $100 to $250, typical $175.
What to put in the plan terms
Write the terms down before the first customer signs, and use the same words on your site, the estimate and the invoice:
- Number of stories and feet of gutter covered
- What counts as a minor repair
- Roof access rules
- Billing and renewal
- Cancellation
For the visit itself, use our printable gutter cleaning checklist so every visit covers the same items.
A sales script that does not sound like one
The best moment to offer a plan is right after a good visit, while the customer is looking at the work. Here is how it can go:
- You: Your gutters are clear and the downspouts are running. With those trees, they will be full again by next fall.
- Customer: I always forget until it overflows.
- You: That is why most of our customers are on the plan. We come in spring and fall, flush the downspouts and send you photos. You do not have to call.
- Customer: Okay, let us do that.
- You: I will add it to today's invoice and book the spring visit now.
Say the price as a monthly amount, and offer to add it to today's invoice. Then stop talking.
Price your own plan
The examples above are national numbers. Your plan price should come from your own labor, drive time, parts and overhead. The calculator above does that math for any trade: visits, hours, parts, the member discount and your margin. For the per-visit prices, the gutter cleaning cost calculator has the sourced ranges.
Launch this plan in Koira
Maintenance plans are part of Koira's Front Office plan, $499 a month flat. Koira offers the plan on your site, on the estimate and on the invoice, bills the card on file monthly or yearly, and books each visit when it comes due, so plan visits land on your day with everything else. See how maintenance plans work in Koira, or start on Front Office.
On the free Office plan you can still sell the visits one at a time with estimates and invoices.
