Masking is covering the parts of a piece that must stay bare, like threads, bearing seats, mating faces and ground points, with high temperature tape, silicone plugs and caps before it is coated.
Also called plugging, high temp masking.

Masking is slow hand work, and a part with many holes can take longer to mask than to spray. Ask the customer which surfaces must stay bare before you quote, and charge for masking as its own line so a busy part is not priced like a plain one.
