A new wood deck
Key takeaways
  • For a deck builder, the features that decide the software are options on one estimate, deposits at signing and customer financing.
  • Koira covers that list on Office (free), with no per-person fee.
  • One company we checked names this trade on its own site: QuoteIQ.
  • Prices and card rates for QuoteIQ, Jobber and JobTread are from each company's own pages, checked October 8, 2026.

What a deck builder needs from software

Deck season is short and everybody wants theirs before summer. A deck builder's spring is a stack of quotes, most of them for the same choice between wood and composite, and a calendar that fills in a few weeks.

The builders who do well in that rush send one clear estimate with every material on it, take the deposit when the customer signs, and keep framing instead of returning calls.

  • Options on one estimate. Pressure-treated, composite or a premium build is the choice almost every deck sale comes down to.
  • Deposits at signing. A deck's lumber and hardware is a real bill, and it should be paid by the customer before the truck is loaded.
  • Customer financing. Composite costs more up front, and paying over time is often what makes it the one they pick.
  • Calls answered by AI. Spring calls come in while you are framing, and the season is too short to lose them.
  • Automatic estimate follow-ups. Deck quotes wait on a spouse, a budget or a second quote, and a polite nudge keeps yours in the running.
  • Review requests. A new deck is shown off at the first cookout, which is the best time to ask for a review.

The jobs on a deck estimate

These are the lines a deck estimate is built from, from the price list in our free deck estimate template.

Job linePriced byWhat the line says
Footings, dug and pouredeachDepth to your local frost line and the inspector's rule.
Framing: posts, beams and joistssq ftLumber grade and joist spacing.
Ledger with flashingftAttached to the house with the fasteners code calls for.
Decking, pressure-treatedsq ftBoard width and fastening.
Decking, compositesq ftBrand, color and hidden or face fasteners.
RailingftWood, composite, aluminum or cable.
StairseachPer step; width and landing.
Tear-out of old decksq ftDemolition and haul-off.
Post caps and lightingeachLow voltage or solar.
Skirting or latticeftAround the base.

In Koira these go on your price list once. Every estimate, instant price and invoice pulls from it, so a deck builder never types the same line twice, and Koira never writes a number that is not in your records.

A plain checklist for deck software

  • Wood, composite and premium on one estimate
  • Deposit at signing for lumber
  • Pay over time for bigger decks
  • Calls answered while you frame
  • Follow-ups on spring quotes
  • Railings, stairs and lighting as their own lines
  • The permit as a line the customer sees
  • Postcards to the neighbors after the build

How Koira covers the list

Options on one estimate. Put pressure-treated, composite and a premium build as good, better and best on one page. The customer picks one, signs and pays. That is on Office, the free plan.

Deposits at signing. Your deposit rule is applied to every estimate, so the lumber order is covered at signing.

Customer financing. The pay page offers Affirm or Klarna. They apply on their own phone and you are paid as usual.

Calls answered by AI. On Grow, Koira answers every call and books the look into your real day.

Automatic estimate follow-ups. On Grow, every open estimate is nudged on day two and day four, then the nudges stop.

Review requests. After every paid job Koira asks for the review. Neighbor postcards tell the homes around a new deck who built it.

What Koira does not doKoira does not pull permits or draw plans. You handle permits as you do now and can show the permit as a line on the estimate. Koira does not do payroll, inventory or a dispatch board for a call center.

Which software companies list deck work

We read the industries pages of the companies we compare on koira.ai and noted which ones name this trade. QuoteIQ is in the tables below.

Read on October 9, 2026 from each company's own page. A company not named here may still serve deck builders; it just does not name the trade on that page, so ask.

What to compare

The features that matter most to a deck builder, and where each first appears on each company's public pricing page, then the people, usage, card and add-on rows every company gets. It is not a full feature list for anyone, including us.

Card rates as each company publishes them (also QuoteIQ online payments, JobTread online payments), checked October 9, 2026. Koira's is Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ for a US card plus Koira's share, which pays for Office in place of a monthly fee.

How to choose

If spring calls go to voicemail, start with call answering on Grow. If customers balk at composite, start with options and pay over time, both on Office, the free plan.

If you build decks as part of whole-house remodels with subs and schedules, a construction system with job costing may fit better.

Whichever you try, put one real week of deck jobs through it before you commit. Koira's Office plan is free with no time limit: start on Office, free, or see every plan on the pricing page. The others offer free trials or demos, so ask.
