What this checklist covers

Opening a pool is a one-day job with a lot of small steps. Missing one, like a drain plug or an O-ring, shows up as a leak or a pump that will not prime. The checklist keeps the order the same every time.

Follow the equipment makers' start-up instructions and the chemical labels; where they differ from this list, they win.

How to use it

Tick each item as you go. The sheet saves in this browser, so you can close the page and come back. Print a blank copy for the truck, or fill it in on your phone and print or save it as a PDF for the customer at the end.

With Koira: Maintenance plans

Sell the opening and closing as a plan on your site and on every invoice. On Koira's Front Office plan, Koira bills the plan, books each visit when it comes due and puts it on your day.

FAQ

What is included in a pool opening?

Removing and cleaning the cover, putting the equipment back, refilling, starting the system and balancing the water.

How long after opening can you swim?

When the sanitizer and pH are back in range after any shock treatment, per the product label.

Why does a pump not prime after winter?

Often an air leak at a lid O-ring or fitting, or a low water level. Check those first.
