Key takeaways
  • For a solar installer, the features that decide the software are automatic estimate follow-ups, customer financing, options on one estimate.
  • Koira covers that list on Grow ($249 a month plus usage), with no per-person fee.
  • Prices and card rates for JobNimbus, CompanyCam and Service Fusion are from each company's own pages.
  • Count the people who will use it before you compare prices.

What a solar installer needs from software

A small solar installer lives on follow-up. A homeowner who asks about solar in March might sign in June, after two calls, a site visit and a financing conversation. A CRM is what keeps that thread from dropping.

The rest is the money path: options the homeowner can compare, financing that turns the price into a payment, and staged invoices once the install is scheduled.

  • Automatic estimate follow-ups. Solar is a long decision, and most sales come from the second or third contact.
  • Customer financing. Very few homeowners pay cash for a system, so the monthly payment is the real price.
  • Options on one estimate. System sizes and battery or no battery are easier to choose between side by side.
  • Calls answered by AI. Leads from ads and referrals cool fast if nobody calls back.
  • Measuring from above. A roof measured from above gives a first number before the site visit.
  • Invoices in stages. Installs are billed in stages: at signing, at install and at inspection.

A plain checklist for solar software

  • Every new lead answered fast
  • A first number from a roof measure
  • System options side by side
  • Financing shown with the price
  • Follow-ups that stop when they sign
  • Signed and deposit paid on one page
  • Staged invoices for the install
  • Review asks after inspection

How Koira covers the list

Automatic estimate follow-ups. On Grow, Koira nudges every open estimate on day two and day four, then stops, and shows you who opened it.

Customer financing. The pay page offers Affirm or Klarna on invoices from $50 to $30,000. A bigger system needs a lender of your own.

Options on one estimate. Up to three options on one estimate, signed and paid on one page.

Calls answered by AI. On Grow, Koira answers every call on a Koira number and texts back missed calls.

Measuring from above. Koira measures the roof from satellite images for a first number. You confirm on site.

Invoices in stages. Deposit, midpoint and final invoices go out as you mark each stage done.

What Koira does not doKoira does not do payroll, inventory or a dispatch board for a call center. If you need those, a larger system may suit you better.

What to compare

The features that matter most to a solar installer, and where each first appears on each company's public pricing page, then the people, usage, card and add-on rows every company gets. It is not a full feature list for anyone, including us.

From JobNimbus pricing, CompanyCam pricing and Service Fusion pricing, checked October 9, 2026. CompanyCam's prices fill in by script; we read the monthly and yearly numbers from the page's own data in a real browser. A cell names the lowest plan that lists the feature; "Not listed" means we did not see it, so ask. Prices change often, so check the page before you buy.

Card rates as each company publishes them (also JobNimbus payments, CompanyCam payments, Service Fusion Payments), checked October 9, 2026. Koira's is Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ for a US card plus Koira's share, which pays for Office in place of a monthly fee.

How to choose

If leads go cold, answering and follow-ups come first; Koira does both on Grow. If you need permit tracking, design tools or a sales team pipeline, a solar-specific CRM may suit you better; Koira does not do those.

Whichever you try, put one real week of jobs through it before you commit. Koira has a free plan, and the others offer free trials or demos, so ask.
