Key takeaways
  • For a moving company, the features that decide the software are instant price on your site, deposits at signing, day-before reminders.
  • Koira covers that list on Office (free), with no per-person fee.
  • Prices and card rates for Jobber, Housecall Pro and ServiceM8 are from each company's own pages.
  • Count the people who will use it before you compare prices.

What a moving company needs from software

A local mover is booked weeks ahead and paid on one day. The customer collects quotes from several companies, picks a date and expects the truck at eight. Everything before move day is selling and confirming.

So the software that fits a small mover puts a price in front of the customer quickly, holds the date with a deposit, and confirms every detail the day before, so the crew does not stand in a driveway waiting.

  • Instant price on your site. People ask several movers for a number at once, and the first clear price gets the call back.
  • Deposits at signing. A booked Saturday turns away other work, so the deposit should hold the date.
  • Day-before reminders. A confirmed time, address and access note the day before prevents a lost morning.
  • Calls answered by AI. Move inquiries come in while the crew is carrying a sofa.
  • Automatic estimate follow-ups. Quotes for next month's move go quiet unless someone checks in.
  • Paid on the spot. The balance is easiest to collect when the last box is in.

A plain checklist for moving software

  • A quick price from your rates
  • A deposit that holds the date
  • Signed estimate with the details
  • A day-before confirmation
  • Calls answered while the crew works
  • Follow-ups on open quotes
  • Balance paid at the end of the move
  • Review asks after each move

How Koira covers the list

Instant price on your site. A Get a price button on your site answers from your own price list, day or night.

Deposits at signing. Your deposit rule rides on every estimate and is paid when they sign.

Day-before reminders. The day before, Koira texts the customer to confirm or move the visit.

Calls answered by AI. On Grow, Koira answers every call on a Koira number and books the estimate visit.

Automatic estimate follow-ups. On Grow, Koira nudges every open estimate on day two and day four, then stops.

Paid on the spot. The invoice opens as a QR code at the door: card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or pay over time.

What Koira does not doKoira does not do payroll, inventory or a dispatch board for a call center. If you need those, a larger system may suit you better.

What to compare

The features that matter most to a moving company, and where each first appears on each company's public pricing page, then the people, usage, card and add-on rows every company gets. It is not a full feature list for anyone, including us.

From Jobber pricing and Housecall Pro pricing, checked October 8, 2026; ServiceM8 pricing, checked October 9, 2026. Jobber's pricing page blocks a plain fetch and changes its prices with a team size picker, so we read it in a real browser. The $29 a month per added user is in the note behind each plan's user count. Part of Housecall Pro's pricing page fills in by script and it was running first-month offers when we checked. The plan prices below are the regular ones its plan cards show. ServiceM8's prices fill in by script, so we read the page in a real browser. A cell names the lowest plan that lists the feature; "Not listed" means we did not see it, so ask. Prices change often, so check the page before you buy.

Card rates as each company publishes them (also ServiceM8 payments), checked October 9, 2026. Koira's is Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ for a US card plus Koira's share, which pays for Office in place of a monthly fee.

How to choose

If no-shows and wrong addresses cost you days, deposits and reminders come first. If quotes go unanswered, instant prices and follow-ups come first. Koira covers both; follow-ups are on Grow. It does not do inventory lists or storage billing.

Whichever you try, put one real week of jobs through it before you commit. Koira has a free plan, and the others offer free trials or demos, so ask.
