What cure schedule means
A cure schedule is the time a powder needs to spend at a set metal temperature in the oven to flow out and harden. The powder maker prints it on the product data sheet, and the clock starts when the part itself reaches that temperature, not when the oven does.
Also called cure time and temperature, bake schedule.
Where it matters on a powder coating job
Heavy parts like wheels, brackets and thick plate soak up heat and take much longer to come up to temperature than sheet metal, so they tie up the oven longer. Undercured parts chip and scratch at pickup, which is why batch and oven time belong in every quote.
