A circuit breaker is a switch that opens a circuit on its own when the current is too high, protecting the wiring, and can be reset by hand.

What the model code says
- The code defines a circuit breaker as a device that opens a circuit automatically on a set overcurrent without damage to itself. (IRC 2021, Chapter 35)
