What drives the price
- Frame material. Vinyl is the most common and among the cheapest. Wood and fiberglass cost more. This Old House's 2026 survey of window buyers found $453 a window for aluminum frames and $564 for fiberglass.
- Window type. Single-hung and sliders are the cheap end. Casements, bays, bows and custom shapes cost more.
- Insert or full-frame. An insert fits inside the old frame and is quicker. Full-frame replacement takes the window out to the studs, which costs more but fixes rot and leaks.
- How many. Fixr puts 5 to 10 windows at $2,250 to $12,000. Doing the whole house at once usually lowers the price per window.
- Glass. Double-pane Low-E glass is standard now. Triple-pane and impact glass sit at the top of the range.
