What this report covers
EPA says the average household septic system should be inspected at least every three years by a septic service professional, and household tanks are typically pumped every three to five years. Alternative systems with electrical float switches, pumps or mechanical parts should be inspected more often, generally once a year.
EPA also says to pump when the bottom of the scum layer is within six inches of the bottom of the outlet, or the top of the sludge layer is within 12 inches of the outlet. That is why this report records both layers.
How to use it
For each item, mark it OK, Needs attention or Not inspected, and add a short note where it helps. "Not inspected" with a reason protects you better than a blank line. Print it or save it as a PDF and send it to the customer with your photos.
