- A new bathroom fan usually costs $250 to $730 installed, about $400 typical, from Fixr and HomeAdvisor.
- Replacing an existing fan averages $250, Fixr says, because the duct and wiring are there.
- Heaters, lights and humidity sensors add to the fan price.
- Always vent the fan outside, not into the attic.
What a bathroom fan costs
Fixr puts a new fan at $250 to $900 installed, $400 average; HomeAdvisor says $241 to $563, $396 average. The calculator uses the middle. Fixr says the average drops to $250 when you replace an existing fan, and the calculator scales the range by that ratio.
Fan size
| Fan size (CFM) | Fan (HomeAdvisor) |
|---|---|
| 40 to 79 | $20 to $250 |
| 80 to 99 | $50 to $325 |
| 100 to 149 | $55 to $400 |
| 150 and up | $100 to $500+ |
Bigger bathrooms need more CFM. Fixr lists full-bath fans of 75 to 150 CFM at $75 to $200.
Lights, heaters and sensors
Fixr lists a basic fan at $50 to $75, a fan with light at $50 to $100, with heater at $100 to $300 and with a humidity sensor at $75 to $125. The calculator adds the difference over a basic fan for each upgrade.

Quoting fan jobs
- Duct run. Through the roof or a wall, and how far.
- Switch or timer. A new switch line adds time.
- Attic access. No access means cutting ceiling.
