What a boat detailing price list is for

Boat owners compare detailers by the foot, and most have no idea what oxidation removal or a coating should cost until they see a list. A price list by boat length, with the condition-based services marked as starting prices, answers the first question every owner asks at the dock and makes your quotes look consistent.

What to put on a boat detailing price list

  • Per-foot prices for washes, polish, wax and coatings.
  • Interior, teak, metal and canvas services.
  • Which services depend on condition, as starting prices.
  • In-water versus out-of-water work.
  • Travel or dock fees and your marinas.

A worked example

A price list for owners of boats roughly twenty to thirty feet. Add your price per foot to each row.

Say in the notes how you measure length, such as overall length including the swim platform. Owners measure differently, and the list should settle it.

FAQ

How do boat detailers price their work?

Most price per foot of boat length for washes, polishing, waxing and coatings, with condition-based services like oxidation removal priced after an inspection. Interiors, teak and canvas are often priced by area or piece.

Why is oxidation removal a starting price?

Chalky, faded gelcoat can take one pass or several, and the right compound depends on how far gone it is. A from price sets expectations; you confirm after seeing the boat in daylight.

Should I list in-water and out-of-water prices separately?

If you do both, yes. Working from a dock or a lift is slower and limits what can be done on the hull, so many detailers price them differently. Say which the list assumes.

Do marinas allow outside detailers?

Many do, some charge a fee and some do not allow them at all. Ask the marina before booking, and list the marinas you already work at so owners know you have access.

How often should a boat be waxed?

It depends on sun, water type and storage. Boats in the water in strong sun need it more often. Use your own experience in your area and suggest a schedule on the list.
