Quick answer

Open Bids and tap New estimate, pick or add the customer, and set up to three options, each a price or line items. Add a deposit at signing if you want one, save it, and send it by text or email. The customer picks an option, types their name to approve and sign, and pays the deposit on the same page.

Step by step

  1. Start it

Open Bids and tap New estimate. Find the customer by name, cell or town, or add a new one with their name, cell, email and address.

  2. Set the options

An estimate holds up to three options, for example repair, replace, and replace with an upgrade. Each option is either one price or line items with a quantity and a price each. Koira adds up the lines; it never makes up a price.

  3. Price it faster

    Three shortcuts sit under Photos:

    • Price from photos. Add photos of the job and Koira reads them against your own services, then prices the lines from your price list (Money › Prices). A service with no price on your list gets no number, so you fill it in.
    • Measure it on the map. Draw the area on the map at the customer's address.
    • Measure the roof. Shown for roofing work.
  4. Add a deposit, terms and notes

Turn on Deposit at signing to take a share up front. Add your terms (set a default once under Settings › Business) and any notes to the customer.

  5. Save and send

Tap Save the estimate, then Send. Pick text, email or both. Texts go from your business line; emails go from your business via Koira and replies come to your own inbox. You can edit the message, or copy the link and send it yourself.

What your customer sees

A page with your business name at the top, each option with its lines and total, your terms and notes, and the estimated start and finish when you set them. They pick an option and type their full name to Approve and sign. With a deposit on, Pay the deposit is right there. They can also tap Not now and say why: the price, the timing, went with someone else, or something else.

The page can be downloaded as a PDF. Once an estimate expires, the page says so.

After you send it

In Bids the estimate moves from sent to viewed the first time the customer opens it, and to accepted when they sign. On Grow, Koira follows up on bids that go quiet for you: see bid follow-ups. The estimate's payment plan turns into invoices as the job goes; see get paid at the door.

Set up your price list once

Every shortcut above prices from your own list, so a good list makes every estimate quicker. Add your services in Settings under Services and who does them, and how each one is priced under Money › Prices. Need a starting point? The free flat rate price book and estimate generator help, and the estimate templates show what a good estimate holds. More on the feature on estimates and signing.
