What as-built drawings means
As-built drawings are the plans marked up at the end of a job to show how things were actually built, including changes and the real location of pipes, wires and ducts.
Also called record drawings, as-builts.
Where it matters on a general contracting job
Commercial clients often require them, and they are useful on any job for the next person who opens a wall. Mark up a set as you go; recreating it at the end is much harder.
