What glue-down flooring means
Glue-down flooring is bonded to the subfloor or slab with adhesive instead of floating or nailing.
Where it matters on a flooring job
Glue-down is quieter and more stable underfoot but slower, and it needs the right trowel and adhesive. Removing old glued flooring is slow too, so look at what is there before quoting tear out.
What it costs
Jobs that involve glue-down flooring are priced in the hardwood floor installation cost guide: about $4,350 typical, usually $2,650 to $6,700. The guide shows its sources and what moves the price. The flooring cost calculator prices a job line by line.
