What carpet pad means
Carpet pad is the cushion layer under carpet that adds comfort, protects the backing and helps the carpet wear longer.
Also called carpet cushion.
Where it matters on a flooring job
The carpet maker's warranty often specifies pad type and thickness. Quote the pad by name next to the carpet so a cheap pad does not ruin a good carpet.
