- Each answer is worth 0 to 5 points, each area up to 25, and the whole quiz 100. The same answers always give the same score.
- Every answer below full marks becomes one plain fix, weakest area first.
- The score is a checklist of habits, not a forecast. It does not look at your books or your reviews.
How the business score works
The quiz asks about habits, not results: whether missed calls get a reply, how fast estimates go out, when invoices are sent, how customers can pay. Each question has three answers, worth from 0 to 5 points. Five questions make an area, so each area is out of 25, and the four areas add up to 100.
| Area | What it asks about | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Get found | Do you have a website on your own domain; Does your site have a page for each service and name the towns you work in; Is your Google Business Profile claimed and up to date; How many Google reviews do you have; Do you ask customers for a review | 25 |
| Win jobs | When you miss a call, what happens; How fast does an estimate go out after you look at the job; Do you follow up on estimates nobody answered; Do your estimates give the customer options to pick from; How can a new customer ask for a price | 25 |
| Work smarter | How do you plan the day's jobs; Where do customer details and job history live; How do you get repeat work from past customers; How do jobs and payments get into your books; How many hours a week go to office work after the job | 25 |
| Get paid | When does the invoice go out; Do you take a deposit on bigger jobs; How can customers pay you; What happens when an invoice goes unpaid; Can customers spread the cost of a big job | 25 |
Questions you skip count as zero, so the score only goes up as you answer. An area under 18 of 25 is called a weak area, and the plan starts there.
The score bands are plain: 80 and up is strong, 60 to 79 is solid with gaps, 40 to 59 has room to grow, and under 40 has the most to fix. The bands are our own way of grouping the scores, not a published benchmark.
Your plan, and what fixes each gap
Every answer that is not the strongest one becomes a line in your plan: what to do, in plain words, and the Koira feature that does it. The plan starts with your weakest area and, inside each area, the answers that cost the most points.
| Area | Koira feature | What it fixes |
|---|---|---|
| Get found | Your website | Put up a site on your own domain that says what you do, where, and how to reach you, with a quote button on every page. |
| Get found | Local search | Give each service its own page and name your towns, so Google can match you to a search like "gutter cleaning in Plano". |
| Get found | Listings | Keep your Google profile and the other listings current: hours, services, service area and recent job photos. |
| Get found | Reviews | Build up your review count by asking every customer, every time. Homeowners compare counts and stars before they call. |
| Win jobs | The receptionist | Answer or text back every missed call within minutes, even when you are on a roof. A caller who waits often calls the next name on the list. |
| Win jobs | Estimates | Send the estimate from your phone before you leave the driveway, so the customer can sign while you are still fresh in their mind. |
| Win jobs | Bid follow-ups | Follow up on every open estimate on a set schedule, and stop as soon as the customer answers. |
| Win jobs | Instant quotes | Let customers get a price and book without a phone call, from your site or by text, any time of day. |
| Work smarter | Today and routes | Plan the day in one place, with the stops in driving order and the customer told when you are on the way. |
| Work smarter | The Koira app | Keep every customer, estimate, job and invoice in one place you can pull up on your phone at the door. |
| Work smarter | Maintenance plans | Sell a maintenance plan, or send a reminder when each customer is due, so repeat work is booked without a call. |
| Work smarter | QuickBooks sync | Sync invoices and payments to QuickBooks as they happen, so the books are done when the work is. |
| Work smarter | Text Koira | Hand the office work off: send estimates, invoices and replies by texting one line from the truck. |
| Get paid | Invoices | Send the invoice the day the job is done, from the estimate the customer already signed. |
| Get paid | Deposits | Take a deposit when the estimate is signed, so materials are paid for and the date is held. |
| Get paid | Pay at the door | Get paid before you leave: tap to pay, a QR code or a phone wallet, right at the door. |
| Get paid | Financing | Offer monthly payments on big jobs, so the price is not the reason a customer waits. |
You do not need Koira to make any of these fixes. Each one is a habit you can set up by hand. Koira's job is to make them happen without you having to remember.
Get found
Homeowners nearby look you up before they call. They want a real website that says what you do and where, a Google profile with current hours and photos, and reviews from people like them. The quiz checks whether you have your own domain, whether your services and towns are on the site, whether your profile is kept up, how many reviews you have, and whether you ask for them.
The fastest win for most shops is asking every customer for a review the same day, with a direct link. Our free Google review link generator makes the link and a QR code.
Win jobs
Most work is won or lost between the first call and the signature. The quiz asks what happens to a missed call, how fast an estimate goes out, whether open estimates get a follow-up, whether customers get options, and whether they can get a price without calling.
If you pick one habit here, make it the follow-up. An estimate with no answer is not a no. A short note a few days later, then another a week after, gets many of them answered.
Work smarter
Office work after dark is where a solo shop loses its evenings. The quiz asks how the day is planned, where customer records live, how repeat work gets booked, how jobs reach the books, and how many hours a week the office takes.
A maintenance plan is often the biggest change here: repeat work that is booked and paid for before the season starts. Our maintenance plan calculator helps you price one.
Get paid
Money that is owed is not money in the bank. The quiz asks when the invoice goes out, whether you take deposits, how customers can pay, what happens to an unpaid invoice, and whether big jobs can be paid over time.
Sending the invoice the day the job is done, and taking a card at the door, are the two habits that shorten the wait the most for most shops. Koira's pay at the door covers tap to pay, a QR code and phone wallets.
